The creation of a “Six Seasons Garden” at Northam Senior High School, a collaboration between the teaching staff, the students and Wheatbelt NRM Rangers, aims to help students and community learn about our local native flora and has been established with native plant species local to Northam and surrounds. The plants were chosen so that different ones will flower during each of the six Noongar seasons.
Each year, Wheatbelt NRM presents the Moorditj Boodjar Award for a number of Wheatbelt school students who share a passion for our natural environment and are often actively involved in environmental or Landcare projects. This week, Northam Senior High School’s now Year 12 student, Joey Bradley, was selected for his outstanding effort and dedication towards the Six Seasons Garden and was duly presented with his 2017 Moorditj Boodjar Award and some beautiful books on Wildflowers of South-Western Australia and Bush Tucker Plants. Congratulations Joey!
